One of the biggest draws of a "country" getaway is the feeling of decadent escapism, the kind of vacation where the stressful realities of urban day-to-day fade into birdsong and rushing water. Our North Shore logging on Lake Superior is uniquely situated in the arboreal forestland around Cascade River State Park.
Dating from the 1930's, our inviting Main Lodge features 12 well-appointed guest rooms and suites, each one offering a relaxing and comfortable retreat. The library, fireplace, piano, Cabin & Trail Provisions shop, and game room complete with pool table and vintage arcade games add to the "come in and stay awhile" ambience that's a breath of fresh air in our harried modern existence.
With names like "Wildflower", "Agate", and "Fireweed", it's hard not to be drawn in by the rustic charm of these lake and creekside cabins. The first was built in 1927 and the most recent in 2000, so they cover atmosphere to suit any guest's vacation wishes - from rustic coziness to modern luxury replete with amenities. Several are set by the rushing Cascade Creek set into thick stands of spruce and pine, while others allow a full view of Lake Superior.
The Basecamp section of our property consists of four cozy and affordable units that blend seamlessly into the property's bucolic landscape. The South facing units, added to the lodge in the 1960's, have the tongue and groove pine paneling and spacious decks that overlook varied scenery, and the two-bedroom unit makes for a perfect den offering comfort and rest in a private setting.
In addition to our cabins and the rooms in our main lodge, we have two bespoke homes on our property that are tailor made to suit larger groups of friends or family. A beautiful and unique option for weddings, family reunions, or yearly outings amongst friends, these two spacious homes are elegantly landscaped into the property's lush forestry of the Northwoods.
