Cascade Lodge and Restaurant is the perfect base camp for mountain or trail biking adventures. Mild to "out-of-control", but always scenic, biking is a great activity on the North Shore.

The area offers excellent mountain biking trails. Spend a day in the backcountry on your bike and enjoy the thrill of the rough terrain mixed with easy scenic riding.

The nearby Gitchi-Gami State Trail is a paved, state-of-the art bike touring trail that will eventually go from Two Harbors all the way to the Canadian border. Pincushion, Britton Peak, Heartbreak Hill, Pancore, Honeymoon, Onion River, Wringer Lake, and Devil Track Loop all provide adventure riding nearby. Highway 61 and the Cascade Beach Road offer wide, level surfaces. The national and state forests are crisscrossed with semi-wilderness roads that can be ridden as well.

Every year, the Lutsen 99er mountain bike race is held at Lutsen Mountains. This is a 99-mile race (19- and 39-mile races are also offered, with even shorter races for kids aged 5-12) that starts at Lutsen Mountains and courses through the forest, up and down mountains of the Sawtooth Range.
